One of the all time greatest Hard Bop albums

One of the all time greatest Hard Bop albums, "Go" is not only a high-water mark in Gordon's career, but in the entire Blue Note Records catalog as well. Be it on up-tempo numbers like "Cheese Cake" or "Love for Sale", or sultry ballads like "I guess I'll hang my tears out to dry", Gordon is in top form throughout, soloing confidently over a backdrop of consistently tight, nimble playing from the rhythm section of Warren and Higgins, as well as incredibly dexterous work on the keys from Sonny Clark, who also gets a number of bright solos in himself, and whose playing is another of the set's highlights. A stunning achievement that remains as satisfying to aficionados as it does welcoming to newcomers looking for a place to start, "Go" is a core selection that belongs in every collection.
