a nice find

a friend of the band introduced me to this, and I'm glad he did. from the opening chords of "who will you love" I could tell this was something special. you can pick up the beatle influences (mainly George?) quickly. it's inspiring to hear people still writing good songs (not the over-produced crap that is sold to the masses as "great"). I feel like I've known some of these songs for years. the vocals are effortless and natural. the lyrics don't seem like he's trying too hard. this is just good stuff.

completely incredible

i'm embarrassed to admit i was first drawn to this band because of "the up and down" which is featured on an anti-drug commercial. i found it enigmatic and beautiful and had to hear more. this album has become one of my all-time favorites; i highly recommend it. it goes from the mystery i mentioned to snarky pop, all with clever lyrics and simple but effective melodies. a must-have.

A must have for the Beatles or Bob Dylan Fan

A really honest album. If you like the Beatles or Bob Dylan you will like Dead Heart Bloom. I was introduced to thia album after hearing 'Up and Down" on television. Haunting and motiviational. Two words you not many songs can claim as adjectives "Up and Down", owns. Each song is different on this album, but shares a comment thread that does not become tiresome.
