About Tim Green
Originally obtaining a degree in philosophy, the Chicago-based pianist Tim Green was something of a late starter, having taken his first formal lessons at age 19 while attending Eastern Illinois University. He then gained notice after joining Chicago tenor saxophonist Von Freeman's quartet and playing around the local Windy City scene in various contexts. Soon enough, the pianist was signed to the OA2 label, and released several well-received titles including 2003's JEANNIE'S SONG and 2008's CHANGE OF SEASONS with the Cambria Trio, this latter release notable as the players exchange instruments on varied tracks. Green's career is also unusual in that he moonlights as a bassist in a number of other bands, including the African fusion outfit Magic Carpet.
