Customer Reviews

A rare find of originality and depth...

... in an array of covers/adaptations of traditional carols and hymns, but more importantly, of original music whose theme is the need to approach Christmas as a child. I dare any reader of this review to listen to "Children Again" and not be touched, or challenged to view themselves or Christmas differently. There are those that say we need turn America's modern conception on its head—to begin an "Advent Conspiracy". This album is in keeping with that notion, and so in support of the best of possible Christmas-tides. Deo soli sit gloria.

Absolute Treasure all year around

I love so much about this album. I got it for Christmas from my mom and I listen to many of the songs all year around. My favorites are Rest (song of the innkeeper), Ave Maria and Easier (song of the wisemen) Those three just.. hit me to the core because they talk about attitudes that I know in my life are so common. "It's easier to give the gift of gold than risk giving my heart for another to hold" or "as a boy I heard the old men sing about a Kingdom and a coming King; but keeping books and changing beds put a different song inside my head and the melody is deafening". Like.. wow. How can you hear lyrics like that and not find yourself re-evaluating your priorities. His style is great, his talent MUCH better than most Christian artists (I hate to say it but I find quality is sacrificed in the "sacred" music department.) Jason really crafts his songs artfully both musically (soft folk, no banjos or anything like that but definitely accoustically driven with the train chug rhythm) and lyrically (as afore mentioned). I recommend it most highly. It's one of my alltime favorite Christmas albums.

Genre: Christian & Gospel

Years Active:

Midwestern singer/songwriter Jason Gray bridges the gap between inward-thinking contemporary folk and hook-minded pop, adding his own spiritual perspective to the mix. Growing up in Minneapolis, music played a prominent role in his early years, be it listening to artists from Simon & Garfunkel to U2, or traveling with his musician mother and the band. In the early ‘80s, Gray’s parents split and his mother became a Christian, moving from rock clubs to the revival circuit. This proved to be a family...
