Wilco Loyalists Will Love This

Make no mistake, this is a percussion-driven mosaic of contemporary instrumental compositions falling squarely in the general vicinity of art music in the Reichian mold. Not for casual rock fans. And sincerely better conceived and executed than that other Chicago band's drummer's solo vanity project of a year or so ago (i.e. Smashing Pumpkins' Jimmy Chamberlain) that spun a pointless web of fusion-ish noodling. Here, Wilco's Kotche lays down the soundtrack to an imaginary art-house film. Theme music for Chicagoans?!?! There's a hard edge here that hearty midwesterners know too well. It's blunt and direct yet redeemed by a supple empathy for the listener's internal narrative. Nicely done. (But not for everyone.)

But this is great music for studying, conversation and other daily things. I listened to it for 3 days straight actually, because it has such a great flow. I'm extremely satisfied with the cd and its made me a huge fan. I'm looking forward to the MD 2006 DVD.

Absolutely Brilliant!

From a percussionists standpoint this is incredible! Check out Kotche's modern drummer festival performance. The man's a genius!
