Customer Reviews

If you heard Anka's last album of modern standards (including the most awesome version of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" I know of), you'll know the sweet ride you are in for here. Loads of classy vocals from the Man, with incredible big band arrangements. "Walkin' In Memphis" sounds like it should have been written by Anka himself, with his great gifts of song interpretation making the lyric "a revelation of cool". When I received the last album as a gift, I thought it was a novelty. Boy, was I wrong...this is serious fun here. Do yourself a favor and let one of the masters of style show you how it's done!

Paul Anka My Way

All classics in this album. Bon Jovi is good in My way!!! The best for cheap.

I respect the try

Okay....think about it. If you were Paul Anka, wouldn't you want to try? I love his attitude of "I'd like to try". You may like it, you may hate it, but my god, this guy put himself out there and tried. And it is NOT Pat Boone embarrassing. I'll kick your you-know-what before I agree to that. I say, buy a few songs like I did....the one or two you like and give this man some respect. I am still listening to (after more than a year) his versions of Wonderwall (Oasis), Smells Like Team Spirit (Nirvana) and Everybody Hurts (R.E.M). They make me smile...a lot. They give me hope for growing old (and maybe along the way making a slight fool of myself). Mostly they make me think of stretching beyond my comfort zone and thinking outside of the cultural norm box. This is a form of PUNK.... and I am not embarrassed to say that. Imagine yourself as Paul Anka and then think what life is. Yes...even that situation MAY want to try it. MAY want to think about it. He DID it. Give him that!! And honestly. I think it's pretty good, listenable and fun. Try Time After Time and just see...

One of the biggest teen idols of the late '50s, Paul Anka moved to the adult sphere several years later and became a successful performer, songwriter, music businessman, and recording artist, remaining so well into the new millennium. Born in Ottawa, Ontario, in 1941 to parents of Lebanese Christian descent who owned a local restaurant, Anka proved a child prodigy, beginning his show business life at the age of 12 as an impressionist. By the age of 14, he was stealing the family car to drive to amateur...
