iTunes Review

With a decade’s worth of hits behind her, Natalie Grant still projects a refreshing Everywoman persona as she deals with the glories and challenges of faith. Hurricane finds the Seattle-bred Christian singer leaning toward electronica sounds that give her impressive vocal gifts plenty of room to soar. Grant’s knack for personalizing Scripture-based themes is evident both in the warmth of her singing and the humble strength of her songwriting. Rousing God-centered affirmations like “Closer to Your Heart,” “This Is Love,” and the title number ride on pulsating grooves that deliver big, triumphant choruses. More nuanced but no less fervent are “Whisper” (a midtempo tune that seeks the Savior’s voice amid the static of modern life) and “Dead Alive” (an enraptured hosanna with an ‘80s-esque techno feel). “Born to Be” (a duet with Rascal Flatts’ Gary LeVox) takes Grant into country territory, while “When I Leave the Room” (cowritten with husband/producer Bernie Herms and singer/songwriter Nicole Nordeman) is a tender lullaby from parent to child. “In the End” closes Hurricane on a note of unbridled, amen-shouting joy.

Follower from the beginning!

I love u Natalie. I have been a huge fan and follower of ur music since ur first album. You music has blessed me every time I listen to your songs. There's an anointing that's unexplainable and the passion that comes through really grips my heart and draws me to a place to worship The Lord. I'm so excited for this new album Hurricane. There are so many this that catch us all up in this life that some times it feels like we are all in a hurricane but so thankful that not only does the storm keep ragging as we get closer to his return but there is a peace in the midst of the storm and we will always find us where we are even if we are lost, he knows just where we are. I love you once again my sister in Christ. God bless you and ur family and pray this new album reaches billions to The Lord.

Category 4.5!

To me, Hurricane represents the best of Natalie's illustrious career, seamlessly bringing together all of her elements of infectious melodies, stellar vocals, and worshipful lyrics in a flawlessly produced album. Every song is catchy and meaningful. They are all standout tracks. The album is all about finding hope in our times of storms. Hope is what keeps the lights on, and our ultimate hope is Jesus. His goodness is proclaimed in every song. This album is a reminder that even in our "hurricanes," a better day is coming. The clouds are going to part. This album is not full of Christian clichés, but instead is loaded with fresh offerings of praise that every believer can celebrate. The song order is also meant to take listeners on the journey with Natalie from "crying on the floor" to "we win in the end." This album is loaded with radio hits, but more importantly it takes listeners on a spiritual journey learning truths about Jesus that changes and moves you. I fully expect this album to win multiple awards. Hurricane is one of my top albums of the year.

Everything I Hoped For!!!

I love this album! It is so fun and upbeat. And the slower songs were touching and powerful! I am recommending this to all my friends! Great job Natalie!
