New to Matt Pond PA? I was, until I heard this album. After hearing it you can't help but feel like old friends. The augmented and diminished chords, alternative tunings, mezmorizing composition, surprising string and brass wind additions coupled with Matt Ponds unique voice and accessible rhythms are convincing—there's real substance behind their music and real emotion in their meanings.

Random Find = Gold

Just found Matt Pond PA and they are pretty amazing. Instantly likable, yet deep enough for constant surprises on multiple listens. It's amazing that this band isn't more famous.

Although originally formed as a chamber pop quintet, matt pond PA went through several different lineups throughout its existence, with each incarnation revolving around the talents of singer/songwriter Matt Pond (previously of Mel's Rockpile). Pond formed the group upon relocating from New England to Philadelphia, and he filled out his first lineup with guitarist/bassist Josh Kramer, cellist Jim Hostetter, violinist Rosie McNamara-Jones, and drummer Sean Byrne.
