Excellent addition to the iTMS!

As a young teenager in the early 80's, I found this album on cassette in the clearance section of a local department store, and I bought it because it looked interesting. By the end of the decade, I had graduated and gone off to college, but sadly, the Code Blue cassette didn't last that long...I had worn it out from repeated playings, and it finally gave up the ghost in the summer between. I spent the better part of the next 15 years whatever happened to Code Blue, and wondered if I'd ever see the album again. It was the soundtrack to my summers as a youth, and I never could shake the residual melodies and riffs left scattered in the nostalgic corners of my mind. I've been looking for it on iTunes for the past few years, but after waiting a good while with no luck, I finally found it on the Rhino Handmade label. Of course, I paid through the eyes for it, but it was worth it to me at the time. Today, I was updating album artwork (since I had ripped this particular album), and lo and behold, here it is on iTMS, finally! I can't stress enough how much of a treat this album is. I played it for my 15-year-old, who's into a lot of new music (Dashboard Confessional, Fall Out Boy, Gorillaz), and he is absolutely smitten with it. This is a rare gem of an album, and it's one that shines well past its 80's shelf life. This is a great find at a great price. Highly recommended!

Rock and Roll to move you

What happened to these guys? No mere flash in the pan, Code Blue's first (and best) album came out in 1980 onto the New Wave scene with a hard driving rock and roll that is hard not to get up and dance to. This is one of those must-have "if I were stuck on a desert island" selections - not a bad tune in the bunch.

Classic of 1980

Straight up. One of the best efforts of the era. Infectious hooks layered on really good song craft. As the Clash's Sandinista helped to define the new, intelligent voice of the latter punk era in 1980, Code Blue superceeded the fodder of bad 'new wave riders' by hammering out some of the tightest and smartest songs since Wire, Television, Jim Carroll, XTC, and Gang of Four. As bands are destined to self-destruct, sometimes the good bands DO die young. An underappreciated gem. Round out your 1980's collection with this perfect capture of the moment.
