iTunes Review

Annie Lennox's post-Eurythmics years have seen her Arctic Goddess persona gradually melting away, revealing the vulnerable mortal underneath. The Annie Lennox Collection testifies to the consistent strength and stylistic focus of her output since the release of her solo debut Diva in 1992. Lennox’s unmistakable voice — by turns remote, insinuating and anguished — works best in stately, elegantly tooled pop settings. From songs of romantic discontent (“Why,” “No More ‘I Love You’s’”) to maternal joy (“Precious”) and urban angst (“Pavement Cracks”), she’s found ways to apply her otherworldly presence to universal themes and emotions. Along the way have been some intriguing side projects, including soundtrack contributions to Bram Stoker’s Dracula (“Love Song for a Vampire”) and Lord of the Rings – Return of the King (“Into the West”), both included here. The buoyant “Pattern of My Life” (written by Keene’s Tom Chaplin) and the celebratory “Shining Light” (first recorded by the Irish group Ash) are newly recorded tracks with an upbeat edge. Lennox has grown even more expressive and human with time.

Indeed....The Collection!

This is simply Annies greatest solo work. I love all her work though, what am I saying. There are a couple things I am missing and now they are available, for one, "Walking on Broken Glass" video. Thank you! I LOVE the 2 new songs and there are videos to those to boot! Whohaaa! This is a great day! "Shining Light" video makes me laugh everytime. Love the 5 Annies!!!

Super woman, Super Collection, Super Price!!! A must-have!

So iTunes finally relented and is now providing the entire Super Deluxe Version of THE ANNIE LENNOX COLLECTION at an equally super price. It would have been absolutely amazing to include some of the live versions of her songs, notably the emotive WHY, DARK ROAD, A THOUSAND BEAUTIFUL THINGS and COLD...but a real stand-out here is the cut taken from RED, HOT, and BLUE: EVERY TIME WE SAY GOODBYE. By this for yourself, and GIFT IT! to your great friends. A roller-coaster of emotions, this is Annie at her absolute best. I can only wait with baited breath for her next solo release.

Great collection!

I own all her albums, so i just picked up the tracks i didn't have. (FYI) -- I purchased "Many rivers to cross" thinking it might be a studio version, but its the same live A I track released last year. This is a fantastic collection of Annie Lennox for anyone that doesn't own all her albums. Not sure why I-tunes has it listed as a "partial album" when her website has the same tracks/video listing?

Following the disbandment of Eurythmics in 1991, vocalist Annie Lennox began a solo career that rivaled Eurythmics' in terms of crossover popularity. Born and raised in Aberdeen, Scotland, Lennox began playing music as child, learning how to play both the piano and flute. In her late teens, she won a scholarship to London's Royal Academy of Music, but she dropped out before she took her finals. For the next several years, she worked around London, performing various jobs during the day and singing...
