Customer Reviews

Artists like this are much more fun on the way up.

I've had the good fortune of getting to know a lot of acoustic artists on their way up the career ladder - Indigo Girls, Shawn Mullins, etc. - before they got signed by the big record companies who tried to poke and prod and overproduce. In each case, for each of those artists, there has been one CD that just felt like pure, "them", without a whole lot of unnecessary nonsense. For Shawn Mullins, it was Big Blue Sky. For Indigo Girls, it was Strange Fire. For this guy, I suspect it will be this CD. He's still earning his way into the business, and you can feel it with every determined note. My musical tastes are pretty diverse - but sometimes I want a little feel good melody to balance out all the save-the-world angst. Radcliffe delivers that without managing to devolve into anything shallow or maudlin. It's a great springtime CD - just makes you want to pop the convertible top and go for a ride.

Smart breath of fresh air

The chord progressions. The maple syrup voice. The woe. The stories. Think Damien Rice, a dash of Grant Lee Phillips with a whole lotta Neil Finn. An honest voice that will rise.

Great singer-songwriter

I've had the chance to see Mark perform live and I feel like this album really captures his energy. The songwriting is excellent and really fresh--a CD that you put in the car CD player that you just listen to again and again---and it never grows old.
