1 Song, 3 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

When Billie Eilish and her brother/musical partner, Finneas, were asked to write a song to accompany the poignant new animated Apple holiday film, “Share Your Gifts,” they found themselves in unfamiliar terrain. “It was very different because we had never written a song about empowering yourself,” she told Beats 1. “Never.” The film tells the story of a girl who is bursting with ideas but is afraid to share them, and Eilish’s song, titled “come out and play,” took inspiration from the character. “Your talent and what you love is a gift to you,” she said. “Whether or not you’re good at it, it doesn’t matter. If it’s something you enjoy, share it. It’s very Christmassy and cute.”
