Reseña de álbum

Emerson, Lake & Palmer aren't the first, or among the first hundred, groups you think of as most likely or suitable to be represented by a single-disc collection. But Come and See the Show isn't the first such anthology, and given that the format's already proven viable more than once, it likely won't be the last. If you're the kind of fan who doesn't find reduction from the album-length format on which prog rockers Emerson, Lake & Palmer relied a problem, Come and See the Show is a pretty good distillation of their more famous (and usually best) tracks. Some might quibble as to the choices of the secondary tracks (though they're probably not the general fans most likely to buy such best-ofs), but undeniably the group's most celebrated songs are present, those including "Lucky Man," "C'est la Vie," "Fanfare for the Common Man," "From the Beginning," "Knife Edge," and "Trilogy." Live versions of "Nut Rocker," "Toccata," and "Peter Gunn" vary the pace, as does "I Believe in Father Christmas." The single-CD best-of format means there isn't room for their longer extravaganzas, but those will long be available on their individual albums should you want to investigate deeper.

In High School I was a ELP nutcase....I remember driving a hazy 120 miles to buy their Works Vol. 1. Their music opened me up to a more universal appreciation of all types other genres of musical...from Jazz to Classcial, to Musicals. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has not opened their doors to any of these except for Pink Floyd, Traffic..that's it. Come on Lovin Spoonful( go ahead name one of their albums), Grandmaster Flash(1 hit), Ritchie Havens(sorry he died but 1 song) and yet no ELP, ELO, Genesis, YES, Supertramp? I can tell you that these groups were instrumental creating a wide aprreciation of music and giving people a longer attention span. Give them their due.

Come on already....

Don't waste your time. If you are going to buy an ELP "best of" album, please make sure it has the following songs on it: Karn Evil - 1st Impression Parts 1 AND 2 on it. You are missing some of Emerson's BEST synth work in Part 1. You also need to have the songs "Endless Enigma Part 1 and 2" on it along with "Tarkus." Those songs along with the ones listed below would make a solid "best of" album. Do yourself a favor and keep looking.

This was a real surprise coming across this! This is like a perfect ELP compilation! I wouldn't change a thing about it! All their best hits are on here! A MUST HAVE!

Emerson, Lake & Palmer were progressive rock's first supergroup. Greeted by the rock press and the public as something akin to conquering heroes, they succeeded in broadening the audience for progressive rock from hundreds of thousands into tens of millions of listeners, creating a major radio phenomenon as well. Their flamboyance on record and in the studio echoed the best work of the heavy metal bands of the era, proving that classical rockers could compete for that arena-scale audience. Over...
