Gorgeous music!

I first found this album in Berlin in 1991, when I picked it up along with PFL's 2nd album, "La Fillete Triste", after hearing a few sample tracks on an in-store display. I completely fell in love with both albums, and have wished for years that they were available in the USA, as the cassettes I bought fell apart years and years ago from being played so much. Seeing this pop up -- even in a "clean" version (yes, I would prefer an unedited version) -- is a wonderful surprise. I've grabbed this and the other three PFL albums iTunes currently has available, and am a shoe-in to buy any others (especially the aforementioned "LFT") should they show up. I love this group's work!

A German-based folk-rock band with touches of Eastern European musical traditions, Poems for Laila formed in Berlin in 1989 under the initial guidance of duo Nikolai Tomás and Roy Eisenberg. Other members -- at this point -- included Melissa Lour, Nile Arndt, and Speedy Sheppard. Their mix of Hungarian and Russian folk with rock stylings caught the ears and attentions of the judges at the Berlin Senate song competition in 1989, and shortly thereafter Poems for Laila released their first album, Another...
