Customer Reviews

As a Bach fan I give this album 5 stars because it is a complete collection that is performed and produced very well. However, the Harpsichord Concertos are not as essential in the Bach catalog as the Brandenburg Concertos. This is all great music on this disc, but I have a hard time listening to more than one of the concertos at a time. I can typically listen to one or two complete discs of Bach in a sitting with no problem, but the repetition of these pieces kind of makes me sleepy after the second or third concerto. Also in my opinion the Brandenburg Concertos are very uplifting, but the Harpsichord Concertos aren't very good to listen to when you're depressed because they make you even more lethargic. This is a must-own collection for any big Bach fan, but don't try to listen to it all at once.

Fantastic Collection

This is an extraordinary work and value. 3.3 hours of beautiful music for $20.

Simply wonderful.

Pablo Casals referred to Bach's music as, "A Volcano" of emotion. I can think of no later composer who can arouse such powerful feelings and emotions as Bach. The harpsichordists are excellent, the orchestral phrasing is masterful, and this recording should be an essential part of any music collection
