Not as interesting as his others'
First, let me say I really enjoy Jacques Loussier. I heartily recommend his music, and I hope you get the chance to experience it. However, this is not the album to start with. The scope of these pieces is too big for Loussier to pull off his schtick, successfully. Refer to his adaptations of accessible Bach, and Bach era pieces (which are wonderful and amazing). This marriage of his jazz licks with a conventional orchestra, is disconcerting. Personally, I think it would have been much more successful, solely as a jazz combo work. The two distinct sounds and moods almost always seem at odds with each other. My other problem is - I know these two concertos backwards and forwards. They are such amazing pieces of music, on their own. Mind-bending jazz moments seem unecessary and inappropriate, even though they are interestingly done. Louissier's veneer suits other works better.
