Confessions is a unique, unsuspecting duet of sorts—a compelling collaboration between two singular musical forces. In “Nowheresville,” Teitur takes on a carefree attitude to his poppy lyrics, which are complemented perfectly by Muhly’s upbeat keyboards and woodwinds. “Cat Rescue” cleverly dramatizes a completely relatable situation.

Not for fans of Nico Muhly

It's sad that someone so talented would stoop to this level of embarrassing, cloying and custie drivel. There are some semi-clever "NPR laugh" moments, but if you like intricate music and respect your dignity, stick to his other new album with Nadia Sirota et al. Two stars for being recorded nicely.

A contemporary classical composer and conductor, Nico Muhly was born in Vermont in 1981. After graduating from Columbia University, Muhly went on to earn a Master's degree in music from Juilliard. He worked on a number of well-received projects, including a cantata on the Elements of Style by Strunk & White.
