Where were these guys when I was 10?

This album is about as sick as it gets... Soooo happy I got it last night at midnight instead of after work today because that extra 16 hours of listening was more than worth it!!
While blind threshold and elektrafone both had awesome upbeat/dance/electronic tracks (Grandstand, I Got, Egyptic, Revival, Cat Skillz, We Swarm Remix), Beats kinda lost me in the middle of the albums. Instrumentally they were awesome; each track is carefully crafted and is pure ear-pleasing delight, but I felt like those albums were more compilations of good songs than a thought-out album with a clear overall focus or theme.
Contraption 2 definitely does not share that minor drawback. From The Allure to Bloody Bones, the album keeps you wrapped in musical suspense. You never know where the songs are going to take you, each note overpowering the one before and leaving you with an appetite for the next. I personally think the album has more of a dark undertone to it... I don't mean 'evil' or 'brooding,' but the mood of the whole album definitely conveys a certain level of gloominess in regard to the "subject" of the album, whoever that subject may be. I often see music in pictures and to me this invokes images of medieval gypsies or some other setting where you have a group of people drifting from place to place, escaping from some form of persecution or danger. About half of the tracks have a relatively strong electronic presence, but it blends perfectly with the Arab/Persian-themed riffs Beats comes up with.
Beats Antique has songs I like more on other albums than most of the songs on this one, but I can't remember a full album I've ever purchased that was more coherent, consistent, and intransigent than Contraption Volume Dos. The fact it is only 8 songs also makes each track extremely memorable and enhances their collaborate power. It has only been out for a day, but I have yet to listen to a lone song, instead playing the entirety of the album again and again. Thank you Beats Antique for once again outdoing yourselves and providing me with ear and brain candy for years to come. Can't wait to see how Ms. Jakes breaks down these songs on stage! Also special shout out to Lynx, I'm pretty sure Crooked Muse is my favorite track!

Beats Antique has done it again. This album feels a bit more experimental to me and I'm loving every second. I love the bluesy Crooked Muse ft. LYNX, the waltzy Bloody Bones, the cinematic Hero and my favorite belly dancing tune, THE ALLURE

Ha =)

This artist's music reminds me of Rayman 2 for the Nintendo 64

Genre: Electronic

Beats Antique came together to make music for Miles Copeland's Bellydance Superstars extravaganzas. The trio is composed of David Satori (guitar, saz, viola, and percussion), Sidecar Tommy Cappel (keys, toy piano, drums, and percussion), and Zoƫ Jakes (belly dancer, composer, and arranger). Their music incorporates Middle Eastern grooves, Balkan wedding music, flamenco, French Gypsy jazz, hip-hop, dub reggae, and other Eastern tonalities, all pulled together with electronica...
