Album Review

Converting Vegetarians is a double record by Israeli trance duo Infected Mushroom. It is divided in two parts — the first one, called The Trance Side, is a full disc of trance tracks performed strictly within established Infected Mushroom style, down to the traditional number of beats per minute mentioned in a title of every song. The second part, called The Other Side, showed a different side of Infected Mushroom, offering a wide range of stylistic experiments from trance rap to pure pop to new age, esoteric experimentalism complete with samples of Gregorian chants.

Converting Vegetarians has converted me....

I write this review in order to help anyone else out there, like me, that has listened to House, Trance, and other Electronic Genres for awhile now, and have found the need to find something new and different; yet familiar. The first disc is the more psychedelic trance, hence Trance Side, while the second disc is more of M.I.'s more experimental and eclectic synth pop and hip hop sounds. Listen to this album while working, running, or driving, and you will soon realize that after the second or third time of listening to these disc's (all the way through in order) that you will start to enjoy and appreciate this music even more through an experience of the journey/trip that this music will take you on. Thank you to Amit, Erez and the rest of I.M., I look forward to listening to your remaining albums. And NOW I have been " INFECTED "

phew

itunes, itunes, itunes, you had me REALLY worried there! thank you for bringing back these albums, and always get the new infected mushroom albums!

Absolutely Amazing

This is the one to get. I love all of their work - I really do.

But if I had to suggest a single album for a brand new listener - I have to be honest, it is either this or Vicious Delicious - which one depends on the friend who asked.

Vicious Delicious for my energetic friends whose taste leans a bit more hard rock, late floyd, with a dash of disco.

Converting Vegetarians is for my mellow friends who love all floyd, tamngerine dream, and at least one eno album they really like.

CV is so magnificent with the broad selection of songs. From jump-up-and-dance to lay-back-and-chill, they cover the spectrum. This album has some songs I consider beautiful music.

Much more polished and slick than their earliest work, they really cut loose and try new things here and all of it works. Seriously, there is not a song on this album I would say doesn't belong on it. The ordering of the songs is spectacular.

Listen to this album start to finish in one uninterrupted go and you will know exactly what I mean. This is one of those albums I call "mental soundtracks" - you make your own movie with this as your soundtrack.

The highest praise I can give this album is that I can always listen to it - any mood, any location, and I smile.

Biography

Genre: Dance

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Mining Israelian Goa trance of its hottest intensities, Infected Mushroom remain one of the Middle East's biggest international cult successes. Erez Aizen's cheap background in obsessed bedroom computer tinkering had led him into and out of a number of crude dance efforts, and when a mutual friend suggested he should get together with Amit Duvdevani, a trash metal fan who had just returned from an aborted career path in India, the two found enough in common to surreptitiously explore the rising psychedelic...
