Still poor but great!

Although nothing compares to seeing the Rats live, it's great to be able to finally listen to the Good Rats on my iPhone.

'From Rats to Riches' is the third studio album (with the classic lineup) from "the worlds most famous unknown band," and it SMOKES! This is Rock 'n Roll at its finest! When you hear the powerful, soulful vocals from lead singer and songwriter, Peppi Marchello interwoven with the symphonic guitar leads from Mickie Marchello and John "The Cat" Gatto, with the driving bass lines of Lenny Kotke and virtuoso drumming by Joe Franco, you will be stunned that they did not become superstars!

The album contains the usual blend of hard driving rock with social commentary and humor, along with heart grabbing ballads, but with an edgy, higher energy feel then in their previous recordings.

From the day I first brought home the vinyl version in the 70's, 'Rats to Riches' remains one of my favorite records of all times.

Well its About Time!

I have wanted a fresh "CD" quality copy of this album for years. It is true, they are a great live band, but this album is simply awesome. Coo Coo Coo Blues is a good example of Peppi's wit, while Just Found Me A Lady, Could Be Tonight and Victory In Space are the backbones. If you want just the best, these four are the keepers.

One of the GREAT 70

The Good Rats were THE band to see back in the 70's in the N.Y. Metro area. Their strong vocal harmonies and sharp musicianship skills along with great writing skills made for the perfect rock act. With lead singer Peppi strumming away on his baseball bat in between throwing rubber rats out to the croud a rousing good time was always had by all! This album is chock FULL of classic Rats! You just can NOT go wrong with ANY of their albums. I own them all!

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s

While countless rockers started their careers in the New York suburb of Long Island before going on to worldwide success (Billy Joel, Twisted Sister, Steve Vai, Brian Setzer, Blue Öyster Cult, etc.), there have been countless acts that appeared poised for a breakthrough, but for whatever reason, fell short. Many longtime followers of Long Island-based rock would probably agree that tops on the "woulda/coulda/shoulda" list were the Good Rats, a group who played at some of the East Coast's best-known/biggest...
