Album Review

Two of Pablo Cruise's charting singles — "Never Had a Love," which went to 87 in 1978 and "Slip Away," which peaked at 75 in 1981 — are missing from their edition of Universal's 20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection series. That means their remaining seven hits — including all their biggest, like "Whatcha Gonna Do?," "Love Will Find a Way," "Cool Love," "I Want You Tonight," and "Don't Want to Live Without It" — are here, along with five album selections. So, it may be possible to quibble that this isn't really definitive, solely on the basis of those missing hits, but for many listeners, this is as close to definitive as they need, since it really does contain Pablo Cruise's windswept, sun-mellowed blend of melodic Californian soft rock and lite jazz fusion. This music may recall the times — that netherworld of the late Carter administration and pre-Reagan assassination attempt — but its best moments (those aforementioned singles) are soft classics of the era, and this is one of the best ways to hear them.

One of the best Songs....

Is Ocean Breeze by my listening. Although long, and the vocals at the end a little strained, the music is beautiful as it builds and the guitar solo and Piano solo mix and separate to create what I think is an awesome piece of music. I keep this one only in my play all the time playlist on my iPod. The album may not contain the 'very best' of Pablo Cruise, but it does have, in my opinion, the great one, Ocean Breeze.

Still Cruisin'

This collection is a pleasure that I'll play again and again for its smooth rock sound and playful rhythm section. The obvious high points are hits like "Love Will Find a Way" but for those of us who like this kind of thing (Pina Coladas, walking on the beach, you know who you are) the real news is the band is back together so this is a refreshing refresher. The name, by the way, represents "a guy who's down to earth and laid back", and that's the groove this gal digs at sundown. This band's still cruisin'. QTK.

How about the entire catalog?

Without the "a place in the sun" album made availible, I can't download "raging fire', or "never had a love" ...lost sales for the group...please get a more complete representation of this fantastic group!
