iTunes Review

On their fourth album, California reggae-rock band Rebelution add pleasing pop elements to their repertoire of romantic and roots numbers. The title track and “Notice Me” ply sunny pop backdrops—think UB40 or Magic!—that allow Eric Rachmany’s relaxed vocals and aqueous guitar to drift like a cool breeze over sturdy rhythms. Heartfelt ballads pasted with multipart harmonies (“Fade Away”) sit aside finely crafted traditional reggae (“Against the Grain”), while the addition of veteran Jamaican singer Don Carlos on “Roots Reggae Music” suggests that even as Rebelution’s sound diversifies, their mission remains the same.

Can't wait!

Already sounds amazing and I'm addicted. I can never get enough Rebelution and it's perfectly in time for summer.

The Best Reggae Band Just Got Better

Rebelution, a talented 5-piece Reggae/Surf-Rock band from Santa Barbara, CA have been keeping it fresh this past decade. In their fourth full-length studio release, the guys have no problem killin' it with their irie vibes and good natured lyricism, stemming from Eric Rachmany’s love of Don Carlos, with whom Rebelution performs on the track “Roots Reggae Music”. This is a must purchase album for the Summer of 2014, and the band deserves every penny, what with “everyone taking a cut". These guys graciously invited me to their show and allowed me to interview them, I have to say they are the real deal, so if you love em, buy a shirt cause ALL money goes directly to the band.

I expected better

Been a fan for many years, Eric is a guitar inspiration of mine. They really could have done more on this album. But instead we get an abundance of recycled rhythms and sappy pleas for activism, over heavy reverb and very little progression. And not a single jam with Jacob Hemphill (SOJA). Too bad. If you liked Peace of Mind you'll probably like this as well. Courage to Grow and Bright Side of Life are still far and away Reb's best work.
