Immersive Joy

Just finished listening to Countdown, which dropped on iTunes today. WOW..even better than debut album. No multitasking is possible while listening to this masterful tour of Joey's 'swing' repertoire. This is pure immersive joy.

He brings me so much joy!

I grew up listening to the jazz greats with my father and hanging around jazz musicians I know personally, so I'm fairly steeped in the music. If one is lucky, a talent like this comes along once in his or her lifetime. I say that all of us in the jazz world are really really lucky right now. I am so glad to be able to witness this greatness.

I saw on TV that just a minute of Joey playing "City Lights" brought the whole Grammy audience to their feet--and I can see why. So great to have the whole song. "Sunday Waltz," another original, confirms Joey is already a master at age 13.
