Album Review

Like many mid-'90s alternative rock bands, Santa Barbara's Dishwalla are probably doomed to one-hit wonder status, despite the quality songwriting pervading 1995's Pet Your Friends. The album sat in record stores collecting dust for over a year before its third single, "Counting Blue Cars" (best known for its lyric "Tell me all your thoughts on God/'Cause I really want to meet her"), became a number one smash on rock and alternative radio. The album contains a set of well-crafted songs (notably "Haze" and "Give") with rich guitar textures, complemented by vocalist J.R. Richards' silky vibrato. "Charlie Brown's Parents" is another fine song that became a live favorite, though it failed to repeat the previous single's sales success.

An amazing album showing Dishwalla at there greatest. Lyricly amazing, fun, and a little of everything. An album to just cool off by listening to. This is one album nobody will ever forget.

So Underrated

Not only is this album underrated, but Dishwalla is also. This album is excelent! You've probably heard many of the songs on the radio: Pretty Babies, Haze, Counting Blue Cars, Explode, and Charlie Brown's Parents are all radio-worthy.

"Pet Your Friends" by Dishwalla

This is one of the most under appreciated albums of our time. Every song is a potential classic, if only listened to. I would definately recomend this CD to anyone who appreciates 90's rock. One of my all time favorites.

Formed: Santa Barbara, CA

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '90s, '00s

The Santa Barbara, CA, band Dishwalla made a big splash in 1996 with their catchy pop single "Counting Blue Cars." With the gritty heart and soul of those who came before them, Dishwalla's hard rock sound was enough for fans to make "Counting Blue Cars" one of the most-requested songs of that year. The song also garnered the band a Billboard award...
