iTunes Review

Wherever You Are (2005) finds Third Day responding to the torments of a troubled world with resolve and compassion. The album’s reoccurring theme of faith amidst tragedy makes this a less joyful and more subdued work than some of their previous efforts. On its own merits, though, Wherever You Are is a more-than-credible song collection, filled with pungent guitar lines and pummeling rhythms. Tracks like “Tunnel,” “”Carry My Cross” and the majestic “Cry Out to Jesus” let Mac Powell apply his compelling vocal growl to themes of reverence and healing. The group locks into a serpentine groove on “I Can Feel It” and basks in a folksy glow on “Mountain of God.” “Rise Up” and “Communion” reaffirm their strengths as a worship music band, while “Keep on Shining” works nicely in a radio-friendly pop vein. In many ways, Wherever You Are consolidates rather than builds upon Third Day’s past achievements. Considering the band’s underlying strengths, that’s not such a bad thing; as always, Powell and his partners deliver Christian rock infused with muscle and spirit.

Leave it to God to prove me wrong...again

I NEVER liked Third Day. I always felt they had represented everything wrong with mainstream Christian music. Then this album came along. God was able to change my heart by using a band I had disrespected for years. From start to finish, the power and grace of this music really does hold a glimpse of Jesus' neverending love for us. Powerful music, heartfelt lyrics and passionate singing. It was like unlocking a door to see all of the things about them that I had missed all along. If you can't see yourself somewhere in "Cry Out To Jesus", you're just not listening. Thanks guys for having patience with me. And thanks for a spectacular piece of art.

Ummmm... why has no one posted a comment on this???

Ok, am I the only one who likes this album!? I don't get it. This is an amazing CD, and it's been out for TWO years, so I'm failing to understand why no one has commented it. I guess it's up to me. I love this album. Third Day is one of the most talented Contemporary Christian bands I have ever heard. The band takes their music in a slightly different direction with this CD, boasting a softer sound than before. Nevertheless, it is just as good as Wire, Come Together, or any other Third Day album (which all have countless reviews, I might add.) My favorites are Tunnel, I Can Feel It, Carry My Cross, and How Do You Know. LET'S SEE SOME MORE REVIEWS ON HERE, PEOPLE!!!

Influenced by the Southern rock of Lynyrd Skynyrd and other artists such as U2 and Rich Mullins, Third Day were originally formed by vocalist Mac Powell and acoustic guitarist Mark Lee. The duo added bassist Tai Anderson and drummer David Carr from another local band, and recorded some demos. Third Day's live shows gradually built them a loyal fan base, and just after lead guitarist Brad Avery joined, the band signed to Gray Dot Records. Their eponymous debut followed in 1996, with Conspiracy No....
