Album Review

Lee Ritenour makes an occasional interesting statement. Otherwise, this is routine filler.

Customer Reviews

Long-time favorite

Just have to counter the reviewer who couldn't be more mistaken about this "filler" music. This is one of those rare albums in which every song is a gem. Great work as always, Dave! And kudos to Lee as well.

I also disagree with the reviewer about this album being a filler. There's so much musicality and artistry in this tracks and they remain as timeless classic even in today's musical context. In fact, this is one of the albums that influenced my style more than 20 years ago before I became a professional musician in the 90's.

Cut my teeth on Grusin

The ‘album review’ that some knucklehead at itunes/apple has no idea how groundbreaking Grusin was in the 80’s. I was a trumpet and piano player in my high school days and without the smooth jazz genre just getting it’s wheels turning at the time, Dave Grusin, Lee Ritenour were absolutely essential to the artists today that makeup smooth jazz. Take Brian Culbertson for instance…One can hear SO much Grusin in Brian’s playing. Dave, if you read these reviews ever, please know that your music is timeless and your talents in composition and direction is so recognized by us who grew up around it. The iTunes reviewer is probably Kanye West, who couldn’t recognize talent if it ran over him.

He was the assistant music director and pianist for Andy Williams from 1959 to 1966, and then started his television composing career. Grusin...
