What a voice!

Perla's clear pure voice is a joy to hear. I love every single song on this CD (how often can you say that?), and I never tire of listening to it. "Mexico de Mi Alma" should become Mexico's new anthem, it's that good. "Cine de Llantos" is bittersweet and plaintive, with a sultry beat. And my absolute favorites are her renditions of the Mexican classics. "Cucurucucu, Paloma," a song we've all heard a hundred times, has never sounded so perfect as it does here. It's as though these songs were waiting for Perla's voice to bring them to a whole new level. Exquisite, all. (By the way, this is NOT Rock, it's puro Latino.)

If you don't have this album, you are absolutely missing out. It's terrific in every possible way. And Cucurrucucu Paloma a la Batalla is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard in my life. It manages to break my heart every single time I hear it. This work is a "must have" and I hope it will enrich your world as much as it has mine.

Then along came this album. Her rendition of Cucurrucucu Paloma and Mexico De Mi Alma leaves me wanting me. This album will be a classic...

There were very few forms of music that Batalla didn't get a chance to experience early in her childhood in that busy family store. She found she loved most kinds. Batalla won a scholarship to study at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute. Her voice was impressive enough to land her vocal roles in both film and television. After a while she became a background singer...
