iTunes Review

Though rooted in reggae, Hot Shot is pop in the broadest sense. Shaggy doesn't just mix in '70s funk, fresh hip-hop, and light oldies—he reduces his source material down to melodies and hooks, then rebuilds the track around his joyous, nasal croak. Exhibit A: tender slow jam "Angel," which gives soft rock torch song "Angel of the Morning" a dancehall makeover. "Luv Me, Luv Me" pulls a similar boom-bap-fueled trick on Rose Royce's "Ooh Boy," while the lusty, horn-backed cheater’s anthem "It Wasn't Me" is a true hybrid.

In third grade I loved it wasn't me and knew all the words, without knowing what it meant. I sang it out loud everywhere. I sort of forgot about the song, and this summer I found it on i tunes, remembering that i liked it, and bought it. I'm am very embarrased with myself. But it is a good song. :)

love it

i love this whole album but my two favorite songs would have to be Hope and Keep'n It Real The lyrics for these songs are just so powerful.

wow the first time i heard these songs (It wasnt me and Angel) was in the Caymen Islands when i was like really young...and they were soo popular down there...and they would play after like every other song...and i came back and they werent popular yet...but i was signin them everywhere...people were really annoyed and confused...but i like love them matter how old they are...they are stilll and always will be amazing!!!!

Emerging in the early '90s, Shaggy was the biggest crossover success in dancehall reggae. Not only did he become the genre's most commercially potent artist in the international market, he was also more than just a typical flash in the pan, managing to sustain a career over the course of several highly popular albums. Perhaps in part because he wasn't based in Jamaica, he never really needed to have it both ways: virtually ignoring the hardcore dancehall crowd, his music was unabashedly geared toward...
