Weak Effort By Bonnet and Company...

This album was kind of a disappointment for long time fans. New guitarist Danny Johnson (Rod Stewart/Rick Derringer) was a nice addition to the band, but the sound and songs were not happening. The real star in this recording was Bonnet whose vocals shine on these pop songs. If you're a fan, buy it because it has bonus live performances featuring Yngwie J. Malmsteen on guitars. If you're not a big fan but would like to own a piece of the Alcatrazz music story, I suggest the following cuts: "It's My Life", "Ohayo Tokyo", "Dangerous Games", "Blue Boar", "Only One Woman" and "Double Man" plus the live recordings.

Alcatrazz was originally formed as a vehicle for vocalist Graham Bonnet, but became famous for introducing budding guitar heroes instead, namely Swedish phenom Yngwie J. Malmsteen and ex-Frank Zappa associate Steve Vai. After toiling away unsuccessfully for most of the '70s with the Marble and as a solo artist, vocalist Graham Bonnet got his lucky break when he was tapped to replace Ronnie James Dio in Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow in 1979.
