Customer Reviews

Euphonasia is by far the most original group I have heard in a long time. Combining a number of different influences including funk, rock, pop, and Lady Gaga, they generate an incredible sound that is like nothing you've ever heard before.

Fronting the group is the most unlikely of instruments, being as it is the nerdiest instrument on the planet, the euphonium. However, you've never heard the euphonium used in the groundbreaking way Ryan McGeorge uses it. Using a combination of effects and guitar gear, McGeorge brings the euphonium's hipness quotient up exponentially. There are times (like on "Bad Romance") that it sounds like an electric guitar, and others where you're not sure what you're hearing, but you are intrigued to continue listening.

Playing keyboard on the album is AnnaMaria Mottola. With her comes some supercharged soloing firepower, which she unleashes quite often on the album. Of particular note are her solos on "Knockin' $#!+ Over," "I ain't got time to bleed..." and "Bad Romance." Her playing can be described as nothing short of breathtaking and you'll be dying to hear more.

On bass is the ultra-funky Aaron Clay. His bass lines are so infections that you want want to listen to the album with only the bass turned up, so you can zero-in on just how groovin' he is. He is a force to be reckoned with.

Laying down the groove on drums is Emre Kartari. You will be hard-pressed to find a drummer with more energy than here. He plays some of the funkiest grooves and fills on the planet, and he helps drive every tune on this album forward. Simply awesome.

The album contains a collection of original tunes and covers, done in some of the most interesting ways imaginable. Ranging from the avante-garde to the more pop and techo oriented, the album is sure to have something for everyone. Where else can you find a quartet that is willing to tackle the music from the film score to the movie "Predator"? Be sure to listen to this group's rendition of "Bad Romance" as it is both hilarious and yet seriously happening. I recommend Euphonasia highly!!
