This album is Mastered for iTunes. After collaborating with James Newton Howard to create scores for Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, Hans Zimmer goes it alone on Dark Knight Rises, the third film in the trilogy directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Christian Bale as Batman. (Zimmer also wrote the music for the Nolan-helmed blockbuster Inception.) The soundtrack opens with the brief intro, “A Storm is Coming,” before segueing into the main theme, “On Thin Ice,” where chilly high tones are picked up by the bottom-heavy string section. The villain Bane (Tom Hardy) gets a powerful sonic tag in the form of “Gotham Reckoning.” With its jarring percussion, harsh brass blasts, and rhythms that evoke Stravinsky and Janacek, the cue makes for excellent bad-guy music. “Mind If I Cut In?” tiptoes in comparison to the stomping “Gotham Reckoning,” but this beguiling cue for Catwoman (Anne Hathaway) is equally compelling. “The Fire Rises” has an insistent riff that gets orchestrated in a variety of ways and a quiet middle section that hums with tension. The album closes with “Rise,” a piece that’s by turns brooding and charged.
With a great movie
Comes great music. Well done!
This had to be the best score by far, all of the scores have fit there movie perfectly and I'd say the first score was for batman the second was for the joker and this one is for Bane and Catwoman. Now the second score was straight tension but this one mixes that tension with fear and excitement, either way it is my favorite score of all.
Very well done
