A new mood, the same dude

Dark Red carries over from Bad Vibes in the ONLY AREA that is necessary, the constant progression of mood from one track to next. What was once moody and sad, is now terror and violence, and its all bloody and beautiful. Fantastic second effort.

Shlo dark

Love this album. It has this feeling of walking down a sketchy alleyway in New York that’s washed in red neon. Ominous, dark, with a dash of paranoia.

About Shlohmo

Avant-garde hip-hop producer and Los Angeles native Henry Laufer goes by the alias Shlohmo. He started making music at the age of 14, and by 17 he was making cinematic beats in the same spirit as Flying Lotus, J-Roc, and Ras G. In 2008, during his senior year of high school, he co-founded Wedidit Collective, an Internet label/community of L.A. artists (featuring Elan, RL Grime, Groundislava, D33J, Jonwayne, Melonious Drunk, Juj, Zeroh, Dr. Blount, and NonEpic). Following the three EPs Shlo-Fi, Camping, and Places, and the mini-album Shlomoshun Deluxe, Laufer released his first full-length, 2011's Bad Vibes on Friends of Friends. Shlohmo completed remixes for a variety of dance, indie, and hip-hop/R&B artists (including Lianne La Havas, LOL Boys, and the Weeknd), and collaborated with Banks and Jeremih in 2014. He signed to True Panther Sounds in 2015, releasing the metal-inspired Dark Red full-length, and touring with a band including fellow Wedidit members. ~ Jason Lymangrover
