iTunes Review

Johnny Rzeznik of Goo Goo Dolls fame co-wrote "Declaration," a soaring, stadium-friendly opener. Another one of Cook's heroes, Raine Maida from Our Lady Peace helped pen the aptly titled "Heroes.” Chris Cornell jumps in the songwriting pool on the power ballad "Light On," a sweaty chested hit that begs for fashionistas to bring ripped jeans and lumberjack flannels back to couture runways.

I've been looking forward to this album for months, and I wasn't disappointed. It has great rock songs (Bar-ba-sol and Light On), which I expected from this "rocker" Idol. It also, though, has uptempo sing-alongs (Declaration) and beautiful ballads (Lie, Life on the Moon). The part that really surprised me, and makes me think this album has a great future, is the song Permanent. It is a heartbreaking song written about the artist's brother's battle with cancer. In our era of packaged music and shallow emotions, it is raw and honest. Well worth the purchase price. Enjoy!

YAY!!! First Review!!! =D

David is an AMAZING person and I have waited forever for his album to be released. I have listened to his previous CDs and they are absolutely phenomenal, but I have to say that this one by far surpasses any of its predecessors. David is constantly surprising his fans with a side we never saw before, and it is so refreshing. He is a true American Idol and he deserved to win more than anyone. Thanks for sharing your gift David!! =D Declaration[5/5] ~ This song is just amazing! It is a salute to his fans who have helped him get to where he is today. It's a great way to start off the album. We're all listening, David. =) Heroes[5/5] ~ This song is very inspirational. He is talking about his heroes and how things may come and go and change, but his true heroes are still there. It also shows that there is a hero in everyone. This song really represents David's role in my life: he is my hero. Light On[5/5] ~ There are so many great things about this song. I think it was a good choice for his first single and it carries a great message. My light is always on for you. :) Come Back To Me[5/5] ~ I don't know why but I think this is my favorite song off of this album. There's something about it that just makes my heart melt. The message is very comforting; I will always be here for you, so take as long as you need to find yourself. Life On The Moon[5/5] ~ This song is very interesting. When I first saw the title, I thought of something totally different. I like this song because it has a good message: without you my life doesn't feel real. That's how I feel about David being in my life. Bar-Ba-Sol[5/5] ~ Most AWESOME song title EVER! I read the title and immediately fell in love with it. It's the most hard-rocking song on the album, and I think it's FANTASTIC!! Mr. Sensitive[5/5] ~ For some reason, this song really reminds me of David. He is Mr. Sensitive. He'll never let the worst get the best of him. He has had to struggle through many obstacles in his life, and has done so amazingly. Just look where he is now. Lie[5/5] ~ I really like this song as well. It's a very relatable song to everyone, no matter what their story is. The truth is sometimes better left unsaid, so just lie and say that it's gonna be alright. I Did It For You[5/5] ~ This song really hits me because he is trying to explain that he did things for someone else to make them happy, and it ends up that they walk away. No matter how much he wants to please them, they just don't feel the same way. I can totally relate to this song. Avalanche[5/5] ~ I really like this song. There is just so much passion in it; he is just swept up in this person's presence and he wants it to be real and not just in his imagination. This song has a very distinct intimacy to it, and I love it. Permanent[5/5] ~ I don't even know where to start with this song. There are so many things to say about it. Listening to it for the first time left me crying my eyes out. This song has so much raw compassion and vulnerability; it's just David saying how much his brother Adam means to him and how he wishes he could trade places with him. He'll always be there for Adam, and that sincerity really shows in this song. I love David because he is always true to himself with his thoughts and emotions and actions. This song is a very good representation of that. A Daily AntheM[5/5] ~ I didn't know that this song was supposed to be on his 2nd album before he tried out for Idol, but I'm really glad that he put it on this album. I love this song because it reminds me of David so much in his days before Idol. However, it also reminds me of how his life will be after Idol. I will sing along at the top of my lungs to any of your songs, David! =D *Hidden Track* Kiss On The Neck[5/5] ~ This song is just so...HOT! David just saying "kiss on the neck" sends me into a frenzy. It's so incredibly hot! I don't know how else to describe it. Another hard-rocking song...I love it!! Time Of My Life[5/5] ~ I know a lot of people have given David beef for this song with its mention of magic rainbows and other sappy lyrics, but I personally love it!! It is very representative of his journey from obscurity in a small Missouri suburb to everyone knowing who he is and loving his music. Every time I hear this song, I vividly remember the night that he won, and when I got to meet him on tour. Those two moments were the best of my life!! Thank you David! My Last Request[5/5] ~ This song is awesome, just like every single other song on this album. Breathe Tonight[5/5] ~ I have only hear a clip of this song, but I already LOVE it! I can't wait to hear the entire song! There is just nothing bad that I can say about David or his music. He is destined to have a long career, even if I have to keep it going by myself. I will buy as many albums, concert tickets, memorabilia, and anything else that I have to. I don't think I'll be alone though. Your Word Nerds LOVE you David! Thank you for all of your devotion and dedication. We'll take you to the top, where you belong! =) Much love and happiness!!
