EDITORS’ NOTES

Dead Cross’ freaky evisceration of hardcore, thrash, and noise rock is meant to burst eardrums and leave listeners in a daze. “The Future Has Been Cancelled” is a sonic tantrum, featuring Mike Patton’s coughs and gasps over bee-swarm riffs and drummer Dave Lombardo’s warp-speed beats; “Obedience School” blasts avant-garde intensity while also dropping operatic howls and fight chants into the melee. There’s even a version of Bauhaus’ goth classic “Bela Lugosi’s Dead,” which is contorted into hammering alt-metal.

I haven't anticipated an album this much in a long time. An epic album by masters of heavy music. Truly a "supergroup" if the term was ever applicable. The 1st single as well as the couple tracks they've allowed limited streaming of have been immaculate in execution & I can't wait to hear a hardcore version of "Bela Lugosi's Dead" originally by Bauhaus. August can't arrive soon enough!!!

Great song - Bad audio quality

I love this song and all the guys in it but is it me or is the audio quality horrible? I have to crank up my stereo for it to sound any good. Maybe it’s just me

About Dead Cross

American rock supergroup Dead Cross feature several veteran musicians tearing their way through hardcore punk at breakneck speed. Dead Cross was originally formed by drummer Dave Lombardo (Slayer, Fantômas) in 2015, when he approached guitarist Mike Crain (Retox), bassist Justin Pearson (the Locust, Head Wound City, Retox), and vocalist Gabe Serbian (the Locust, Head Wound City, Retox) with the idea of forming a straight-up hardcore punk band. The group got off to a good start, with their debut single, "We'll Sleep When They're Dead," streaming online the following year. However, in mid-2016, Serbian quit the band despite having already recorded his vocals for their debut full-length. The rest of the group refused to release the record with Serbian's vocals, and instead recruited Mike Patton (Faith No More, Fantômas) to take his place, preferring to start from scratch. Within a year, the new iteration of Dead Cross had finished recording their eponymous debut album with the help of producer Ross Robinson (Korn, Deftones, Sepultura), who helped capture the frenetic energy that defined the record. ~ Liam Martin
