Customer Reviews

This CD absolutely took me by suprise. Bombshell was a good CD but this band took a turn for the more aggressive and it did a great thing. Julie's vocals are outstanding and I must say that going down to a one guitar band made these guys heavier and we now find out that Jeff Westlake is a masterful guitar player. Great hooks, love the chorus of every song. This CD has it all. THis is the CD that HYDROGYN was meant to make from the blistering Rejection to the title cut , Candles and then Shadow. What a brilliant CD and you can not go wrong here. I give it a 9 out of 10. Just wished there would of been more than 10 songs. I rank this as my fave CD of 2008 to this point.

Hydrogyn's best album so far

I saw Hydrogyn when they opened for Ace in Springfield, Va. They blew me away so much I decided to check them out. Bombshell is good, and the live album is decent, but this album is the best Hydrogyn album and the closest to the band I saw with Ace Probably because most of the songs they played that night were from this album, although the show happened at leats 6 months before the album came out. When they opened for Ace, they opened their set on a dark stage, with the intro to Gene Simmons' Radioactive playing over the loudspeakers. They used that intro is a springboard into their fisrt song rejection, and damn, that worked out great! Well, the intro used on the album is different, but the song is still awesome, although the song seems to be cut off early for some reason. Other highlights are On And On, Deadly Passion, a cover of Alanis Morisette's You Oughta Know (I HATE Alanis Morisette. Hydrogyn made me like this song), and the bonus track, "I Know," which is much better here than it is on the live album. But my favorite of all is the ever-catchy Seroquil. This is the song that ended the show that I saw, and, DAMN, they could not have ended with a better song. That catchy chant in the chorus got stuck in my head until Ace hit the stage.
