Editors’ Notes

Becky, Emily and Joanna Robertson were raised on church hymns and outlaw country music, and their parents Barny and Carter Robertson toured and recorded with Wayon Jennings. Their self titled debut is an impressive album brimming over with memorable songs steeped in outlaw country's roots, country pop ballads, hints of '70s southern rock, and three part sibling harmonies that sound absolutely unparalleled. Carter's Chord (a moniker that refers to a perfect musical triad) were discovered by Toby Keith who (along with their father) co-produced the album. With help from Nashville's A-list songwriters the trio's first single "Young Love" gushes with summery, young, pastoral romance and the sisters' siren-like harmonies carry the song to lofty elevations that just can't be attained by singers without this kind of DNA in their music. "Different Breed" saunters with a slow and seductive tempo and the empowering womanly wit in the lyrics gives the song more edge than the rest. "Summer, Early '60s" (penned by their mother) is hit worthy with its sultry melodies, soulful gospel parts, and captivating narrative. Ol' Waylon would have been proud.

Customer Reviews

I've been waiting for Carters Chord to release this album for months now. Ever since I heard "Young Love" on the radio one day while sitting powerless in traffic, I knew they were going to be big. Beautiful vocals that almost remind me of the Dixie Chicks. Buy It. Now.

A Different Breed...for sure!

Not only do these 3 girls have lovely faces for their album cover, but they actually wrote and recorded most tracks for this record! Finally some true country talent. Currently they're on tour opening for Toby Keith. I hope he's ok when these "hotties" steal the show. I definitely recommend this album!

Hands down the best vocal group debut of the year

This album is nothing short of amazing from a talented trio. Their harmonies are on point throughout the entire album and the lyrics only help showcase their voices to the extreme. Different Breed is unlike anything that's currently out there today and I would love to see it make a name for Carter's Chord... You never know with radio, though. If the world was a perfect place, Young Love would have been the single to do so. However, seeing this album digitally released really gives me hope for these girls. I'm definitely interested in what's next for Carter's Chord. Amazing album girls.
