Atomic Rooster

No one has ever heard of
Atomic Rooster, but they're pretty good.
They're like Deep Purple mixed with Black Sabbath.

Way back trip

Got one album on the 70's and never heard from them again. Very creative heavy metal rock. Thank God for Internet, people thought I making up the name. They have some very good songs!

Early prog rock

Atomic Rooster had one moderate UK hit in Devil's Answer, a lesser one in Death Walks Behind You, and the rest was for fans of the Strawbs (when Rick Wakeman played for them) or Stray for early progressive rock. More tuneful than the Nice, less power ballad than Uriah Heep, smarter than Gentle Giant. Carl Palmer of ELP fame started with AR on their first couple of albums, but Vincent Crane was always the keyboard soul of the outfit. Their songs are interesting and it's too bad they aren't better known. Have a listen and pick some songs - you'll come back for more.
