Beautiful music, but...

The recording levels are really bad. The quiet portions are so quiet you have to crank the volume to enjoy them. Be prepared to quickly turn the volume down again. The performance is brilliant, it's just hard to enjoy because the recording is poor.

Debussy's most important works reasonably priced.

I bought this because I had been jonesing for the Faun Prelude for some time because I had let someone borrow my CD of another performance and never got it back. With this package you get La Mer, Nocturnes, and the Faun Prelude - the most important Debussy works for a newbie to his music - all at a decent price. I haven't listened to it enough to give it a fair comparison to the different performance I used to have. Perhaps this one could be less clear or less dynamic, I'm not sure. But you can't really go wrong with the London Symphony Orchestra. If you want a low-priced, well-performed collection of Debussy pieces you already know, then this is a good choice.

Poor quality recording. Wasted my purchase money.

Same issue with the recording volumes. Have had it in my itunes library for quite a while but finally deleted yesterday. Gave up on volume issues in this otherwise fine music. Save your money and try a different recording of Debussy.

Known as one of England's most gifted and versatile ensembles, it is the resident orchestra at London's famous Barbican Centre. This and the...
