Focus vs. Diversity

The much anticipated “Cartographer” continues the trademark E.S. Posthumus mixture of Pop hooks backed by a cinematic orchestra and chorus. It delivers like “Unearthed” did with the same exotic and epic formula, though here it is presented in a much more mature manner that seems better focused and realized. Unlike “Unearthed” where you could select a handful of standalone tracks “Cartographer” prospers from being listened to in its entirety. This new approach means that the music has a tendency of sounding very similar, particularly toward the later half of the album. If you are a fan of modern movie scores (i.e. Hans Zimmer) and love your tunes with high production value look no further than here. Also, I recommend picking up the other collection featuring Luna Sans. Her collaboration should not be missed! Best Tracks – Selisona Pi, Oraanu Pi, Marunae Pi.

Beautiful, but not as good as original

I really enjoy this CD. I like it better than the female vocal version, and it has some amazing cues and sequences. However, it is not equal to its predecessor, the Unearthed CD. In my opinion, this disk has less variety. Many of the songs carry generally the same pace and intensity with only a couple that really stand out. Still GORGEOUS music, though.

It was only a little while ago that I learned of this group, and downloaded their entire unearthed album. It is one of my all time favorite albums, featuring a style unlike any other artist out there. When I found they had a new onen out, I couldn't contain myself, this is incredible music. I downloaded the entire thing, I'm maybe even happier with this one, buy it is you liked the first one, it's SIMPLY AMAZING!!
