Album Review

The Osborn sisters and producer Dan Huff put a new spin on holiday music and put some funk in Christmas. Anything but country, Brand New Year is truly a treat for all music listeners. The incomparable harmonies of Kristyn, Kassidy, and Kelsi grace every song on the 12-song collection of new and old holiday music. But the Osborn sisters give their own delicious sound to tradition. "Deck the Halls," "Jingle Bells," and "Sleigh Ride" have all been consecrated with the melodious sound that is uniquely SheDaisy. And the girls give the Andrews Sisters a run for their money on "Santa's Got a Brand New Bag," sounding much like "The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy." Although Christmas albums generally do little to further a career, SheDaisy better be prepared — Brand New Year is sure to be under every tree, making them a household name.

One of THE BEST Christmas albums!!!

This is one of the best Christmas albums ever released, especially by a country group. Almost every song on this album is an original rendition of a classic song, but also includes some originals that are guaranteed to be classics. A track-by-track review: 1) Deck the Halls (6/5 out of 5): This song is what got the SHeRevolution started. An instant classic, it's an upbeat, funfilled track that'll leave ya singing. 2) Santa's Got a Brand New Bag (5/5): The first of the originals, this is a purely fun song about a woman finding the new Santa very very sexy. A great song with some great lyrics and harmonies. 3) That's What I Want for Christmas (6/5): A classic I had never heard before this release, this version is brilliant. The harmonies are flawless and the lyrics are perfect for the time of the year. 4) Jingle Bells (6/5): This is a brilliant reworking of a classic. The girls take this song and turn it into a ballad, and do an excellent job. This is the song that got me to buy the album when it released. It won't disappoint. 5) Intro to Tinsel Town (aka Merry Scary Intro) (0/5): Completely pointless, but kinda funny, but just not necessary. 6) Tinseltown (5/5): The second original is a great upbeat song about the joys of the holiday season - the shopping, the batteries, the children. Great song. 7) Sleigh Ride (5/5): This is another reworking of a classic song, and another that's well done. Very fast and keeps you moving, like a fast sleigh ride! 8) What Child is This (5/5): Beautiful rendition, each of the singers gets a turn at the mic on this, and it's very well done. The bible verses featured at the end fit very well and emphasize the meaning that much more. 9) Hark the Herald / Carol of the Bells (4/5): This medley is excellent, and the transition between the two is great. Harmonies are, yet again, flawless. Could've easily been just as good or better as two separate songs, however. 10) The Secret of Christmas (5/5): Great great great song. A more mid-tempo song, the lyrics have a special meaning. 11) Christmas Children (5/5): Love this song. The harmonies are great and it's just plain fantastic. 12) Twist of the Magi (3/5): Never being a fan of Rascall Flatts, I feel it could've been more effective if another band was in there, but the song itself is funny. 13) Brand New Year (6/5): A brilliant song, it's got everything you need for the new year in a 4 minute package. The lyrics and vocals are tight, and the arrangement well done. 14) How Can I Keep From Singing (10/5): Originally a hidden track on the CD release, this has always been my favorite part of the album. This acapella track sums up what makes SheDaisy great, they can SING!!

Thank You iTunes!

I am so excited! I have been waiting for SHeDAISY to put their version of "Deck the Halls" on a CD. It is on of my favorite Christmas songs! It just doesn't seem like Christmas time with out their upbeat version!

Brand New Year

What's not to love about this work? As always, they hit another one out of the park! Great addition to any holiday collection.

Sister trio SheDaisy (or SHeDAISY, if you're picky) rode in on the late-'90s wave of female country-pop, following in the stylistic footsteps of Shania Twain, Faith Hill, and the Dixie Chicks. Kristyn, Kelsi, and Kassidy Osborn grew up in the small Utah town of Magna, near Salt Lake City, and started singing together as young girls, often putting on shows for their neighborhood. As they grew older, Kristyn spent more time alone writing songs, while Kelsi and Kassidy performed locally as a duo. After...
