Album Review

Throughout her career, Linda Ronstadt has always interpreted rock and pop classics, but Dedicated to the One I Love is different from the rest of her albums — this time around, she reinterprets the oldies as children's lullabies. All of the songs are given lush, sweet, and soft arrangements, even when that approach is ludicrous; it might be a cute idea to deliver Queen's "We Will Rock You" as a rock-a-bye chant, but in practice it is simply ridiculous. Fortunately, most of the album relies on songs — "Be My Baby," "In My Room" — that can be sung as lullabies, and she sings them very well. Of course, the appeal of Dedicated to the One I Love is limited — only baby boomer parents will really find this interesting — but fans that find the concept intriguing won't be disappointed by the results.

Favorite CD

This was the CD my godmother gave to me as a baby and I loved it! I had to listen to it every night before I went to sleep and I still do today lol no joke

Many great memories

I loved this CD. I bought it when my daughter was born. It was her favorite CD as a baby. I loved the soft, soothing sound of Linda's voice and the melodies of my old favorite songs. I didn't like other lullaby music because I didn't know the songs. These are some old time favorties that I could sing softly to my child. Loved that I could sing "We Will Rock You" to a baby and have it be a soothing sweet time between us. You won't regret getting this CD if you like the orginal versions of the songs here.

I LOVE this CD. my mother use to play it for me every night before I went to sleep. it reminds me of her so much. I am so happy to have my childhood back.

With roots in the Los Angeles country and folk-rock scenes, Linda Ronstadt became one of the most popular interpretive singers of the '70s, earning a string of platinum-selling albums and Top 40 singles. Throughout the '70s, her laid-back pop never lost sight of her folky roots, yet as she moved into the '80s, she began to change her sound with the times, adding new wave influences. After a brief flirtation with...
