Notas editoriales de iTunes

One of most unusual and innovative albums of millennial hard rock, Toxicity remains System of a Down’s best-regarded work. The album takes it cues from the thrashing grooves of bands like Korn, but System of a Down set themselves apart from the nü-metal pack by embracing alternative influences, including punk and Zappa-esque art rock. Abrupt changes in tempo and dynamics are matched by the mercurial vocals of Serj Tankian, who morphs from fire-breathing screamer to impassioned missionary to Arabic folksinger, often within the span of a few seconds. The lyrics often deal with sex, death and politics, but in contrast to other metal bands, the words are presented impressionistically. And for every instance of politicized rage (“Pushing little children with their fully automatics / They like to push the weak around” goes the refrain of “Deer Dance”) there is an outburst of Dadaistic humor: “Pull the tapeworm out of your ass, HEY” (from “Needles”). Against all odds, “Chop Suey!” became an MTV sensation, and despite its strangeness, the song remains one of modern music’s most compelling anthems.

S.O.A.D.'s Best Album

In my opinion System Of A Down's best album. Below is my review. Definately a must have for any System fan. Prison Song - The best opener I've ever heard on any CD. 5/5 Needles - Good song, Daron has a cool solo part. 5/5 Deer Dance - Awesome heavy song, can really get a crowd moving. 5/5 Jet Pilot - Even though it's a filler, it's pretty good. 4/5 X - Also a filler, but I like 'Jet Pilot' more. 3.5/5 Chop Suey! - One of System's most successful songs to date. 5/5 Bounce - Funny lyrics, good guitar. 5/5 Forest - Not a bad song, just hasn't caught my attention. 3/5 ATWA - One of my favorite songs on the album, Serj and Daron's voices sound really good together. 5/5 Science - Kind of like 'Forest', except I like this one more. 4/5 Shimmy - Really good song, goes by fast. 5/5 Toxicity - My favorite on the album, each band member does an outstanding job in song. 6/5 Psycho - Only part I like is the chorus, but that's really it. 4/5 Aerials - Another good song, which has also had much success. 5/5 Arto - Probably my least favorite. 2/5

itunes finally got aerials and by the way SOAD is not nu metal they don't rap so stop saying that they're nu metal.

Name a better album

Best thing since the toaster. Top songs ATWA, Chop suey!, Toxicity Psycho and Aerials.

Fecha de formación: Los Angeles, CA, 1995

Años de actividad: '90s, '00s, '10s

Like many late-'90s metal bands, System of a Down struck a balance between '80s underground thrash metal and metallic early-'90s alternative rockers like Jane's Addiction. Their dark, neo-gothic alternative metal earned a cult following in the wake of the popularity of such likeminded bands as Korn and the Deftones. Vocalist Serj Tankian, guitarist Daron Malakian, bassist Shavo Odadjian, and drummer John Dolmayan formed System of a Down in Southern California in the mid-'90s. They quickly earned...
