A Great Collection

A great way to show how versatile Roland is with or without Curt... Tears for Fears as an Entity is chock full of cool sounds and lush soundscapes. When In Love With A Blind Man will sound very familiar to you. Pharaohs is amazing, Deja Vu, When Tears roll Down(Alt Version), New Star, and Sea Song personalize this album for you as a journey of sound that changes... And then as a bonus, another single... What a great version of David Bowies Ashes to Ashes!

Excellent collection

Collecting B-Sides and rare tracks can be a bit daunting. The "Saturnine" collection mixes some interest cuts (# 13 - Bloodletting Go and # 10 - New Star) and many experimental ideas and concepts thaqt may seem odd at first listen, but after several listens you realize the talents of TFF and how creative they can be.

The Genius of Tears for Fears!

Saturnine Martial & Lunatic shows just how without limitations the sheer creative genius of Tears for Fears! "Schrodinger's Cat" is like hearing "I Am The Walrus" and "Lord of Karma" could have been a Jimi Hendrix song. Some songs have since been added as extra tracks to the albums they were recorded at the time of. If you have all of their albums and want a great collection of their wonderful B sides, this is the album for any Tears for Fears fan. I would have liked to see "Ghost Papa" included from "Woman In Chains" CD single but it's still a great album and a must have for your collection.

Biography

Formed: 1981 in Bath, Somerset, England

Genre: Pop

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

Tears for Fears were always more ambitious than the average synth pop group. From the beginning, the duo of Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith were tackling big subjects — their very name derived from Arthur Janov's primal scream therapy, and his theories were evident throughout their debut, The Hurting. Driven by catchy, infectious synth pop, The Hurting became a big hit in their native England, setting the stage for international stardom with their second album, 1985's Songs from the Big Chair....
