Customer Reviews

Pure fire from Anthony B with an unprecedented range of remixes.

The original tune was recorded in Africa, NYC, and Jamaica (just before the military raid on Tivoli Gardens) on the NYC-2-Africa riddim and the vibe and energy from all those places and events is seared into the music: African drums from the motherland, hip hop beats from the street, and reggae vibes from the dancehall. Pure fire from Anthony B with an unprecedented range of remixes by innovative producers around the world. They cover classic roots and dancehall, sure, but also mix it up with Cumbia out of Colombia, Argentina, & Mexico and mash it up with dubstep, tropical, and electronic bass music out of the UK. Every remix tells a different part of the story and serves to translate Anthony B's universal message of defiance, anti-corruption, and standing up for human rights and integrity into the local musical dialect of the different cities' streets across the globe. Subatomic Sound System took great care to make sure this is one remix album that you can actually listen to front to back and have it all make sense!

The Best Remix Album I Have Ever Heard

The politically engaged vocals of Jamaican MC Anthony B blast out with power over twelve versions that include playful Roots Reggae, funky West Coast Hip Hop, uptempo Cumbia, lusty Afro-Dub and cement melting bass music. Listen to it. Listen to it now.

Heard NYC-2-Africa mix the other night...picked up the whole album here. Love the remixes. Let's hear more from Anthony B & Subatomic!
