Album Review

Patrick Park adds to his lovestruck songbook with the release of Loneliness Knows My Name. The Under the Unminding Skies EP clearly defined Park's honesty as a songwriter, and this studio full-length builds upon love's common lot. He's unassumingly sweet without being clichéd, in turn allowing Loneliness Knows My Name to cast a charm without moping. Once again, Park plays all instruments and sings every song, and his country/folk/pop sound is uncontrived. Such an effort is impressive, and Park isn't overly earnest in crafting the perfect song. Loneliness Knows My Name comes together naturally due to Park's lyrical simplicity and, with that remedy in mind, a good deal can be expressed. Heartbreak leaves Park tattered and torn on "Your Smile's a Drug" and "Something Pretty." The bluesy strut of "Sons of Guns" is similar in spirit, but dark-colored in tone. Languishing in passion can't last too long; the pain's too much and the gospel trio of Rose Stone, Maxi Anderson, and Alexandra Brown on the soulful "Bullets by the Door" lets love come full circle with a glossy finish. Eventually, Park comes to accept the fickle ways of adoration, and Loneliness Knows My Name takes it all in stride for an enjoyable listen.

The Best - Not Enough Stars!

I am absolutely proud to say that this superb singer and song writer is from my town. Yet he walks into the Starbucks like he is just some avergae joe! He's making waves and going places. This CD is the ONLY CD in my collection that I never tire of. Each song perfect for every mood that I am in. His writing is a poetry, not just a song. His words are ones that I would never know how to explain through a pen. I cannot wait until his next his out. Folk fans of all kinds, just you wait! Congrats Patrick. We love you here in Colorado. You make us so proud!

"Your Smile Is A Drug" - AMAZING and extremely well-written song! Great album.

Incredible!

This is honestly one of the best albums I have ever heard. Stumbled onto artist through "the OC Soundtrack" and was just blown away. I've been listenting to this album for almost a year now, and it's still on my top five list. Have now bought EVERYTHING he does that I can get my hands on. I keep checking into iTunes to see if anything new is out....just can't wait to see what else he'll come up with! Listen to it loud...his voice is amazing.

Years Active: '00s

Raised in the American southwest, singer/songwriter Patrick Park began writing music and playing in bands as a middle-school student. His mother was a published poet and his father was deep-rooted in folk and blues, and the young Park -- whose family lived a stone's throw from the famous Red Rocks Amphitheater -- took inspiration from those parents, eventually developing an folksy, acoustic sound that would later permeate his records. Park opted for a change in his early 20s and ventured out East...
