10 Songs, 34 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Destroyer has everything we want in a Kiss collection. We could pump our fists all night long to hard-hitting anthems like "Shout It Out Loud," "Detroit Rock City," and "Flaming Youth," but this LP goes a step beyond the group's usual brand of top-shelf, face-melting rock. Experimental flourishes like the boys' choir on "Great Expectations" and the heartfelt strings on the tender ballad "Beth" make this album totally unique and unmistakably Kiss.

Rock and Roll perfection!!!

Most of us live our lives close to the vest and refuse to take chances. Bob Ezrin (producer of Alice Cooper & others) took over the production of Destroyer and the results are rock and roll perfection. Kiss gambled and went outside the box with over the top symphonies and boys' choirs and even had Peter Criss playing drums in an elevator shaft for "God of Thunder." I was 15 when this album came out and I loved it from the first play on my Technics turntable. This album expanded the Kiss audience beyond 15 year old males like me and starting pulling in females of all ages thanks to the great ballad, "Beth."

All the songs are strong, my favorites are "Great Expectations," "Shout it Out Loud," & "Flaming Youth." A rare 70s album with no filler. Ezrin has said in interviews that he had to teach the guys how to tune their instruments and many other basics of music. So Kiss, swallowed their massive egos and rolled the dice with Bob Ezrin. The results were amazing and all Kiss fans will put Destroyer near or at the top of the list of greatest Kiss albums.

Top of their game

With this album, KISS was at the top of their game. With GREAT album art (a lost art in these C-rap py times) and almost every song a hit, KISS could do no wrong. "Shout it Out Loud" was every bit the hit that "Rock and Roll All Night" was and "Beth" a great cross-over.
