Album Review

Still grinding after ten years in the game, the former Roc-a-Fella artist continues to hustle after moving from Rhymesayers to the independent N.Y.C. label Babygrande Records. For his fourth album, Leslie Pridgen, better known as Freeway, collaborates with former producers Just Blaze and Jake One on some of the best cuts on the record, including the hard-hitting old-school flashback “Early,” and the dreamy ode to the perfect girl, “True,” which features a guest spot by Wale. Switching to a smaller label is generally not a sign of good fortune in the rap world, but Freeway continues to be interesting enough with his gruff, dexterous style of storytelling to make a solid impact as an underground artist. Even when the production fails to inspire, he holds up his end of the bargain on the mike.

Man Free ain't the same without them Kanye beats...I'm a Dwn south cat but good music is good music and freeway is good music cuz dude can write but man Kanye put that boi on another 1st song that I heard by Free was "alright" and I can't find one song on this album that is close to that or my jam " baby don't do it" ft Scarface. Don't get me wrong i can still feel his hood story lyrics but the beats don't move me like his earlier music. I'll always support Free cuz he's real hip hop but I hope he and Kanye can do something on the side cuz them dudes are like peanut butter and jelly, They go good together.....CAN WE ALL JUST GET ALONG 4 THE LOVE OF REAL HIP HOP!!!!

Freeway fast became a valuable member of the Roc-a-Fella family in the early 2000s. His ascent can be traced back to an agreement he made with fellow Philadelphia native Beanie Sigel. Acquaintances from the same local nightclub, the two shared admiration for one another and made a pact: the one who first landed a record deal would pull the other along. Sigel got the tap first and stayed true to his word; Freeway made his first major appearance in 2000, on "1-900-Hustler" -- a track on Jay-Z's Dynasty...
