EDITORS’ NOTES

A product of the Texas/Oklahoma Red Dirt country scene, Turnpike Troubadours let their Okie roots rise up throughout Diamonds & Gasoline, both in the deeply twanging guitars and sawing fiddle, and in frontman Evan Felker’s son-of-the-soil vocal delivery. But from the stripped-down balladry of the title track to the accordion-fueled stomp “Shreveport,” those rootsy tones frame a freewheeling flow of rich, poetic imagery. And the sadness Felker exudes, even on ostensibly upbeat tunes like “Whole Damn Town,” can move you to your core.

Heard of them but never listened that much. Saw them live and it blew me away. Their albums are pretty good but if you get the chance to see them live, it will be a treat.

These Guys are Amazing

Don’t know how it took me so long to check them out! Love all of their material. Great music and storytelling! Love the vocals too! Some of the best music I’ve ever heard from the Alt country or Southern music. Great harmonies as well! Excellent!
