iTunes Review

With album art depicting Rihanna’s hands rolling up diamonds in blunt wrap, you just know that these remixes are going to be delightfully indulgent. Grammy-nominated producer, remix wizard, and DJ Dave Audé brilliantly works in synthesized strings, church bells, and vintage electro flourishes over a classic Chicago flavored house foundation. Haarlem, North Holland producer Gregor Salto throws down a radio edit with more organic sounding strings bleeding into a stripped-down verse. And here you realize how amazing this song is in its skeletal form—rather than sew a verse and a chorus together, Rihanna fused two sections together that are equally catchy. It’s as if she grafted to choruses to each other. As Salto fleshes out the mix, it’s evident that he’s got a love for old school house music, much like Audé. With a penchant for white label remix magic, UK trio Bimbo Jones got to take on three versions of “Diamonds;” a vocal one, an edit of the vocal remix, and a downtempo mix that stands out with pillowy beats.

A great release alongside her very much anticipated Loud Tour Live At The 02!!! Diamonds already was an outstanding track and these remixes just compliment the song very well. Definitely worth the purchase!

I'm hooked
