Gifted soul singer Danielle Nicole opens her self-titled solo debut with “You Only Need Me When You’re Down,” a fiery blues romp that boasts shades of Bo Diddley’s immortal “Dearest Darling.” It’s one in a small group of promising blues-soul hybrids that the Kansas City native (and former Trampled Under Foot frontwoman) recorded in New Orleans alongside GRAMMY®-winning producer/guitarist Anders Osborne. While “Starvin’ for Love” features an undeniable groove and mesmerizing keyboard work from Mike “Shinetop Jr.” Sedovic, “Didn’t Do You No Good” is at once stormy and sultry, with Nicole's remarkable voice matching the strength of hot-to-the-touch guitar licks.

A Voice to Hear and Experience
I’ve seen this artist perform in both Kansas City and NYC with her previous band, Trampled Under Foot, and more recently in NYC with the Danielle Nicole Band. Don’t miss the opportunity to catch a live performance!! She has a distinctive and powerful voice, accompanied by her driving bass guitar playing, and she's writing some fine new music…soul, melody and blues.
What a Voice!
I’ve seen Danielle perform on there occasions now. This woman can SING! She was born to sing the blues. And, she’s great on the bass! I can’t wait for a full album. I bought the EP and loved it. Still, if you ever get to see the Danielle Nicole band in person, don’t pass up the chance.
